1969-1971<\/strong>
Yossi Aviaya Malachi experienced for the first time, during his master's degree studies in the Faculty of Agriculture in Rehovot and as a research assistant to the late Prof. Yehoshua Rodrich, the inferiority of the existing method of planting tomatoes for the industry – Planting root-exposed seedlings that have difficulty absorbing, is consuming a lot of water, develops slowly and provide a low crop.<\/p>

1974<\/strong>
The Aviaya Malachi family establishes a farm in moshav Netiv Ha'Ay'ara in the entrance of Rafiah.<\/p>

Hanania Ocart establishes a farm in Moshav Mivtachim, which specializes in growing roses for export.<\/p>

1976<\/strong>
Yossi was exposed to a new method developed in the US \u2013 growing seedlings in personal cells in styrofoam trays. He is fascinated by the method and convinced that this invention will lead to a global revolution in the production of vegetable seedlings.<\/p>

1977<\/strong>
Yossi decides to dedicate his life to the production of seedlings. He transforms the agricultural farm he owns into a nursery for the production of vegetable seedlings, and becomes one of the first flag bearers in this field in Israel and around the world.<\/p>

In moshav Mivtachim Hanania develops his agricultural farm and builds the first mesh house for the production of seedlings.<\/p>

1978<\/strong>
Beginning of marketing vegetable seedlings to farmers in the entrance of Rafiah, the HaBsor region and the Arava.<\/p>

1979<\/strong>
Hanania Avakrat, a farmer from Moshav Mivtachim, and later on Yossi's brother-in-law, establishes a summer nursery in his farm to produce tomato and pepper seedlings. 1982<\/p>

Following the peace agreement with Egypt and the evacuation of the settlements, the Aviaya Malachi family moves to the HaBsor region and joins the group of initiators and founders of Moshav Ein HaBsor. The ways of the two brothers-in-law reach each other and they decide to start a family business: a nursery for growing vegetable seedlings and spices in a mold. The name "Shorashim" Meaning roots, was unanimously chosen as a symbol of the displacement of their roots from one place and the process of rooting out in another.<\/p>

1983<\/strong>
Starting first attempts and switching to commercial production of spice seedlings: tarragon seedlings from cuttings and Melissa seedlings from seeds.<\/p>

1986<\/strong>
Momentum of developments and innovations in the nursery: development of irrigation in irrigation lines ("booms"), construction of temperature and humidity-controlled sprouting rooms, development of a thriller to strengthen polyethylene sheets in roofs in buildings with a sloping roof and the development of a drum sowing machine.<\/p>

1987-1990<\/strong>
Vegetable transplantation is established and occupies a place of honor among other agricultural industries in Israel. The main reasons for it: the emergence of the drip irrigation method, the expansion of the use of the growers in penchant seeds and polyethylene sheets. Shorashim knows to leverage these developments for the benefit of farmers and is growing at an impressive rate.<\/p>

1994<\/strong>
Starting R&D in the production of organic seedlings.<\/p>

1995<\/strong>
Development of a computer system for the production process.<\/p>

1998<\/strong>
Development of the seedlings transport with growing molds inside designated cages, which allows entry with the cages into the greenhouses or mesh houses of the growers.<\/p>

1999<\/strong>
Starting commercial production of graft watermelon seedlings.<\/p>

2000<\/strong>
Commercial production of graft vegetable seedlings: tomatoes, eggplant, pepper, cucumbers, watermelons and melons.<\/p>

2001<\/strong>
Production of jojoba seedlings – a perennial shrub plant whose seeds produce a unique oil for the cosmetics industry.<\/p>

2004<\/strong>
Trans-Israel Project \u2013 restoration of the vegetation of Israel along route 6, which was damaged and destroyed following the development of Route 6.<\/p>

2005<\/strong>
Development of new growing molds with 4 canals in the corner of the root house (development of a new, user-friendly tray).<\/p>

2009<\/strong>
Expanding the Ein HaBsor site and establishing state-of-the-art greenhouses with one of the most developed irrigation systems currently on the market.<\/p>

2012<\/strong>
Launch of the stealth seedling ("seedling with a huge advantage") \u2013 the only seedling of cucumbers that manages to evade soil diseases and produce impressive crops.<\/p>

2017<\/strong>
Launch of an innovative plastic mold for growing tomato seedlings and pumpkins \u2013 Tray 136.<\/p>

2018<\/strong>
